I enjoy selling business, plain and simple; I work best under pressure. I have dozens of deals under my belt, even during COVID! I consistently sell at least one business a month, each on the market for an average of just 4-5 months!
I communicate with each and every client, analyze financials to ensure a smooth marketing and sales process, and enjoy selling the top performers just as much as finding the silver lining of a business in distress. I know the ins and outs of leases and landlords, tax agencies, Dept. of Alcoholic Beverage Control, and the Health Department.
It's always a challenge to pick the highlights, but if forced to share my favorite movie star moments, they'd be:
I am a Massachusetts native with East Coast sensibilities, and I bring passion, candor and humor to every project. I bring a powerful insider-outsider perspective to my business brokerage clients, with 25+ years of combined experience in brokerage, retirement planning, and small business ownership.
I wake up each morning excited to tackle the challenges of business brokerage, navigating the many moving parts of the sales process: bringing a business to market, chasing down leads, securing offers, and negotiating the roadblocks of due diligence and escrow. I fiercely make deals happen, along with the occasional armchair psychiatry to soothe the emotional damage caused to small business owners by pandemic lockdowns ... no extra charge! One day I’m reviving my client’s suspended entity with the Franchise Tax Board, and the next I’m negotiating a lease with a challenging landlord. On some deals, the endgame is to give struggling companies fresh starts in more capable hands. But my favorite deals are the ones where I help business owners retire into their golden years after paying their 30+ year dues.
It’s always been about serving people, even during my 13 year run as a restaurateur. Our portfolio of restaurants served $25+ million of experiences across 5 restaurants occupying 9,500 square feet. That’s a mind-boggling amount of menu planning, payroll management, COGS cost control and meeting health department and ABC regulations.
All the first-hand experience I picked up in financial planning and small business ownership supports my clients today. I parlay that expertise into listening and understanding my Seller's stories, analyzing their company financials to determine fair market value and matching qualified Buyers to business opportunities that furthers their evil master plan.
When I’m not working deals, I spend time teaching my son the strange ways of the world. I’m an avid BMX rider, serious home improvement weekender, and outdoorsman. And as often as possible, I take refuge at our family hideaway in Big Bear.
If you're considering selling your business, don't dilly dally. Email, call, or connect on LinkedIn!
